Research Phases

The Research Project will occur in 3 phases between 2007-2010.

PDF LOGOOverview of Project Phases

Phase 1: Development

Develop the TfT tool kit and refine processes for workshops and coaching.

Validate content and format of tool kits and processes for workshops and coaching with expert panel of key stakeholders.

Phase 2: Feasibility Studies

Pilot PD intervention using iterative validation procedures and conducting feasibility studies with 12 teachers.

Phase 3: Experimental Trials

Evaluate potential efficacy of PD intervention. Focus on:

  • Use of embedded instruction
  • Delivery of complete learning trials
  • Child engagement and learning

Experimental trials will occur with 36 teachers across 3 states (12 teachers in each state). Teachers will be randomly assigned to 1 of 3 conditions:

  1. High Quality Workshops and Coaching with Performance Feedback on Embedded Instruction
  2. High Quality Workshops and Self-Coaching with Web-based Supports on Embedded Instruction
  3. Professional Development as Typically Provided in the Program
